Hello and thanks for taking a few minutes and letting me share some information that I think would be of help to you.

I've been involved in computer industry for too many years to count and have a bunch of friends who occasionally tap into my tech knowledge when they have problems. A friend of mine, Bernie, frequently calls with various computer issues, he's in his late 60's and isn't very fond of computers. About a month ago he called and said he had a friend with a warehouse full of overstock items and was wondering if I could help him sell some products online. I said "sure, it's easy" and got his usual reply of "everything is easy for you", which always makes me chuckle.

So I started thinking and realized that there are many small business owners, who could significantly benefit from selling their products and services online, if they knew how to do so and if it was affordable and preferrably without risk.

Most business owners who want to sell online are typically faced with the following recommendations from "IT guys":

• To sell online you need to have a web site (which translates to 'this will cost you $$$')
• You need to have your web site with e-commerce, so people can pay you online (same translation, more $$$)
• You need to have the site optimized so people could find you on Google, a process known as SEO (which is typically followed by the business owner saying 'S E what?', and, of course more $$$)
• You need to have your site indexed by Google, so it must be submitted (guess what that means? that's right - more $$$), a process which can take from weeks to months to get done
• You need to promote it, otherwise nobody will see it (yep, more $$$)

Notice in this list a common element - all of this cost $$$, and the poor business owner hasn't even begun to sell anything at this point! Not to say that these guys are mistating the truth - all of the above can and does cost money when you hire someone to do it, but...
